Victoria’s first FPSO required the fitout of an existing ship with processing equipment.
This included the requirement for chemical injection packages for the metered injection of Methanol, Pour point depressant (PPD) and corrosion inhibitor.
Australian Fluid Handling was chosen as the designer and supplier of these packages as a result of our company’s ability to customize packages for particular applications. Strict time deadlines, development of the operating specifications and tight dimensional constraints resulted in a very close working relationship between AFH and the EPC contractor and end users involved.
The design of each of the skid packages differed in their complexity, construction and operational requirements and due to the offshore and floating location, DNV approvals were required for the equipment design, fabrication, assembly and testing.
This project included high pressure metering pumps from Nikkiso as well as the largest vessel supplied by AFH as part of a chemical injection package, being some 6 m. in height and 2 m. in diameter.
AFH Engineers supervised the site installation and commissioning of the units onboard the FPSO. Subsequent client required modifications to one of the pump units also required the mobilization of AFH staff to the FPSO in operation in Bass Strait, Victoria.
